Goose Feather TreesThe open style and sturdy construction of Goose Feather trees make them the perfect way to display finished needlepoint ornaments! Goose Feather trees have been a Christmas tradition since they were first created in Germany in the 1840's. Considered the first "artificial" Christmas tree, the goose feather tree became a mainstay as the popularity of decorated Christmas trees quickly spread. The necessity for this artificial tree rose from the damage and deforestation suffered by German forests trying to meet the demand for the traditional Christmas tree. Our Goose Feather trees are expertly hand-made in the traditional German style by Steve Gentil of Evansville, Indiana. A long-time collector and enthusiast of vintage Christmas decorations and Santas, Steve studied the art of making Goose Feather trees after retiring from his career with the U.S. Postal Service. Steve is a member of several Christmas associations and displays his creations at their national meetings and events. |
